My name is Joey Serricchio I am a Los Angeles based artist making conceptual art in a variety of interdisciplinary mediums. The work I make comes from a place of intense subjectivity. The goal of my work is to highlight the banal and brief things that go overlooked and yet grow to become large unavoidable natural and constructed systems of tenderness, callousness, and vastness that exist with and upon us.
I make work around the ideas of permanence, safety, and the inevitable. I use different forms of artmaking with the concept driving the process and choices I make. This has led me to experiment with different technologies ranging from digital programming to large scale woodworking. My work finds comfort in things that go overlooked or openings in dominant and institutional systems. It attempts to bring attention to ephemeral and temporary things in order to encourage empathy and sensitivity to the condition of being alive in the world right now and tomorrow. Time holds a substantial role in all my artworks. Being the main instigator and connection between animate and inanimate entities. The work gives viewers the opportunity to consider mortality and their connection to a shared world and systems outside human control.
